Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE)
The second year of the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) program in Melbourne is a Year 12 Program. This Certificate is obtained by accumulating at least 16 semester units satisfactorily completed and satisfying some subject composition requirements. Grades are awarded to a student for all semester units. These grades are used to calculate an ENTER score that is used by higher education authorities to determine entry into their degree programs.
The subjects (each with two Units) for the VCE Business Program at Holmes include English, ESL, Mathematical Methods, Accounting, Economics, Information Processing and Management. While there are skills taught in these subjects, the primary emphasis is academic.

Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning Senior (VCAL Senior)
The second year of the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning Senior (VCAL Senior) in Melbourne is also a Year 12 Program. This Certificate is obtained by completing a minimum of 10 Units and certain composition requirements being met. VCE Units already completed count towards VCAL Senior. A student will need to complete VCE English Unit 3 or VCAL Literacy Senior Reading and Writing together with two Personal Development units and some VET units - depending on the credits the student obtains for previous work.
Students enrolled in 11 Plus @ Holmes should obtain the VCAL Senior at the end of their Year 11.
