MultimediaA very popular program for students wishing to pursue a career in the media, communication and information industries. This one year Diploma fast-tracks students into the second year of Curtin University’s bachelor degree programs in film and tv, multimedia, journalism, advertising design and photography. The TAFE program utilises the film studio located at Central TAFE’s Northbridge campus giving students hands on experience with using film cameras, editing programs, setting up sound recording equipment and writing news reports. General Entry Requirements and Pre-requisites Entry into the Diploma requires the equivalent of Australian Year 12 with passes in English or completion of the Certificate III in Design Fundamentals. For Yr 10-11 and Yr 12 academic equivalence, please refer to the Entry Requirements Summary (PDF) for your relevant country. This also details the normal English proficiency standard needed. What You'll Learn in Each Course This qualification has been developed for students wishing to pursue a career in the contemporary media, communication and information industries. It offers students the flexibility to continue their studies in areas such as Film & Television, the Internet, Multimedia, Journalism, Advertising Design and Photography. It will provide the skills, knowledge and practical training that will lead to employment or further study at University. Career Outcomes Depending on the extent of further studies, graduates can gain employment in a range of communication and broadcasting roles in the film, TV, internet and journalism professions. Further Study & University Options Successful completion of this Fast Track Diploma will guarantee students entry into a range of related Bachelor of Arts degrees at Curtin University including: film and tv, mass communication, internet studies, multimedia, journalism, advertising design and photography. Students who finish with an average overall grade of 65% or better will be able to enter the 2nd year of the Bachelor degrees in Mass Communication, Film & Television, Journalism and Internet Studies. Studies at TAFE WA can also be continued into the Advanced Diploma of Art & Design.
