The University of Ballarat had its starting in 1870, making it to a very old tertiary institution in Australia. Since then we have strengthened close links with our region, as well as our national and partners world wide. Up to 25,000 students now studying at UB are able to select from a growing list of Higher Education and TAFE courses. MIT's Master of Professional Accounting aims to develop graduates who are ‘work-ready'. It is designed to span the core body of knowledge of the areas of accounting, management, marketing, economics, information systems and law. Knowledge and skills in these areas are required by businesses and industries worldwide. MIT's MPA graduates will be prepared for immediate employment.
The programme is accredited by the National Institute of Accountants (NIA). This body is a full member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).
The course is delivered through lectures, tutorials and individual consultation with students. The curriculum includes a balanced use of case study analysis and problem solving approaches, so that theoretical concepts and technical skills are learned and applied to a range of situations. Students study in the classroom, through individual study and through group learning.
Entry requirements : As a minimum, applicants must have completed successfully a three-year Bachelor degree.
In addition to satisfying the entry requirements for Australian resident students or demonstrating equivalence, overseas students must provide evidence of proficiency in the English language being: International English Language Testing System (IELTS) overall band score of 6.0 (Academic) with no band score below 5.5, or its equivalent.
Scholarships:
All applicants to the program will be considered for a scholarship when they are not sponsored by other organisations or governments. The scholarships will provide financial assistance toward the cost of fees. Candidates can apply for a scholarship for the second year of the program, based upon their academic achievement at the end of the first year.
There will be a 50% scholarship in 3 rd semester for all students who achieve an average overall score of 75%, or more, in 2 nd semester, with no individual result below 70%. For this scholarship to be carried forward into final semester, these results must be maintained. The top 10% of the above will be eligible for a full scholarship, under the same conditions.

The proposed study sequence is outlined in table below. However, students may enrol for any of the units at any stage, except in the case where such units require prerequisites, as there is no guarantee that every unit will be offered in any particular semester.
