Outline 

 

The Master of Nursing (Coursework) has been specifically designed to meet the professional needs of working clinicians who want their study time to be flexible, without a requirement to travel to classes. The course is offered in a format that enables students to complete the program in six (6) months, twelve (12) months or eighteen (18) months, depending on eligibility.

 

Career Opportunities 

 

A master degree qualification prepares graduates for advanced nursing practice. Graduates can work in hospital or community settings, and in educational institutions. Graduates studying specialist streams will find this course an advantage to their career opportunities.

 

RPL and Credit Transfer 

 

International students wishing to apply for RPL and Credit Transfer are required to provide syllabus of previous study undertaken at time of applying for course. Not all courses offer RPL and Credit Transfer. Contact the International Student Programs office at international@ballarat.edu.au

 

Objectives 

 

This course is designed to enable students to critically examine the distinctive role of nursing. It has been planned to meet the needs of nurses who wish to take a leadership role in developing innovative programs and practice in a variety of health care settings, to undertake research in nursing or to investigate an issue in professional nursing.

 

Requirements 

 

The course consists of eight 15 credit point units of study plus a 60 credit point advanced project or minor thesis. The course can be completed in 18 months of full time study.

 

Students who hold a graduate certificate can complete the program in 12 months of full time study and will be required to complete the four units comprising the Graduate Program plus an advanced project or a minor thesis.

 

Students who hold a graduate diploma can complete the program in 6 months of full time study and have the option of undertaking an advanced project or a minor thesis.
