Outline 

 

This Masters by Research program is an eighteen-month full-time course, or the equivalent in part-time study, which sees candidates working with a principal supervisor (and possibly co-supervisor) appointed by the Research and Higher Degrees Committee on the recommendation of the School. The degree is awarded on the basis of a thesis demonstrating command of the knowledge and skills pertinent to the area of investigation as well as a critical appreciation and understanding of the relationship of his or her own work to that of others. Areas of research strength in which supervision is available in the School of Information Technology and Mathematical Sciences include:
- Applied optimization
- Mathematical finance
- Mathematical and statistical analysis
- Mathematics and statistics education
 
Career Opportunities 

 

Graduates of this course are likely to gain employment undertaking research in a government department or in industry.
 
RPL and Credit Transfer

Requirements 

 

During this program, you will work to produce a thesis under the guidance of a principal supervisor and at least one associate supervisor appointed by the Research and Higher Degrees Committee on the recommendation of the School.
