Outline The Master of Information Systems (e-Commerce Security) provides students with the appropriate knowledge, skills and values to be effective in modern e-Commerce and business environments. There is a particular emphasis on security and risk management strategies in e-Commerce systems. The main focus of this degree is to provide a program that considers modern principles and theories of computing together with the practical applications of information technology. The Master of Information Systems (e-Commerce Security) will introduce both the organisational and technological issues that are needed for the analysis, design and development of e-Commerce and business information systems whilst incorporating security and risk management principles. Career Opportunities Upon completing the Master of Information Systems (e-Commerce Security), you will be well-prepared for such careers as e-Commerce risk management analyst, e-Commerce security auditor, privacy compliance officer, information systems developers, system analyst managers, system designers, information managers, electronic commerce managers, database administrators, consultants, and company managers. RPL and Credit Transfer International students wishing to apply for RPL and Credit Transfer are required to provide syllabus of previous study undertaken at time of applying for course. Not all courses offer RPL and Credit Transfer. Contact the International Student Programs office at international@ballarat.edu.au Objectives Successful completion of this course will give you the foundation, knowledge and skills to: • identify, analyse and evaluate contemporary issues in e-Commerce security; • develop an understanding of the complexities of securing e-Commerce systems; • identify and assess the key threats to an e-Commerce system; • understand the different types of information technology tools and their applications; • evaluate appropriate e-Commerce security tools and techniques; • communicate effectively using a range of media; • understand the role of technology in managing knowledge and information; • value the importance of technology in the business cycle; • show an awareness of ethics and social implications in e-Commerce; and • communicate well in writing and orally. Requirements The course consists of sixteen units providing theoretical and practical skills in advanced information systems.
