Master of Financial Management

DURATION: 2 years full time

If you are looking for a career working within international monetary markets and systems or providing risk analysis, foreign exchange risk management, multinational working capital management or foreign investment analysis, like the Graduate Diploma, only more extensive, this program provides the tools and knowledge to get you there.  Particular career focus areas are financial market analysis, banking, investment houses, government departments and financial brokering.

When completing the Master of Financial Management you will undertake the same five core courses as the graduate diploma, but you will study an additional four compulsory courses within the business, economics and accounting fields, and have the opportunity to study three elective courses from a range of business areas. The masters program gives you the additional knowledge and skills to further enhance your employment prospects.

This program is designed to suit specialists in accounting or finance, or professionals offering advice in these areas. The program content will provide you with the knowledge and analytical skills to address the financial management and decision making aspects of the organisation.

Prerequisites

Entry Requirements for the Master of Financial Management include:

• An undergraduate degree in accounting or finance or instructor approval, or;
• A CQUniversity Graduate Diploma of Financial Management

For the purposes of admission into this program, an undergraduate degree in accounting or finance is considered to be any of the following:

• An undergraduate degree from an Australian university that is accredited with accounting bodies.
• An undergraduate degree from an Australian university in the area of accounting or finance or a generic degree with a major in accounting or finance, made up of a minimum of 50% content in the areas of accounting and finance.
• An overseas qualification equivalent to an Australian bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% content in the areas of accounting and finance.
• An Australian postgraduate coursework degree or overseas equivalent in the area of accounting or finance.

Program Structure

You are required to complete 12 courses (96 units of credit) to graduate with the Master of Financial Management.

 These courses will include:

• eight compulsory core courses; and
• four elective postgraduate courses, chosen from specified postgraduate courses from the Faculty of Arts, Business, Informatics and Education, provided prerequisites have been met.
