Master of Creative Arts (Screenwriting)

This degree program focuses on the research, preparation and presentation of a major creative work in the form of a feature film length screenplay (120 minutes) and a written exegesis of approximately 10,000 to 15,000 words. The first semester may also involve participation in classroom or on-line seminars on thesis preparation and presentation. Entry Requirements Selection will be based on the following criteria: An approved Bachelor degree and/or professional or creative experience in a creative arts field; Submitted proposal for a creative project (approx 750 words), including the title of your project, a statement outlining the proposed creative work and a discussion of the issues it will address; Statement of your reasons for wanting to undertake this degree, which incorporates details on your background and experience in creative arts and what you are hoping to achieve from this course; Portfolio of previously published, screened, exhibited or broadcast creative work, including a bibliography and samples of reviews, if available; Demonstrated generic technical skills in the medium appropriate to the proposed project; Potential to carry out research and the availability of appropriately qualified staff to supervise the research. Applicants may be interviewed in person or by phone. Professional Outcomes Graduates will have a completed screenplay to take to market and/or present to the MCA production degree for production with a clear understanding of the creative process. Work Experience & Internships Work experience and internships are currently not available to this program. Attendance Most students undertake four subjects per semester (equivalent to 40 credit points). You may, however, enrol in fewer subjects and extend your degree over a longer period. Bond's Teaching methodology involves a combination of lectures, tutorials, seminars, examinations, projects, presentations, assignments, computer labs and industry projects.
