CQUniversity’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) is designed to enhance the opportunities for graduates to obtain positions involving major managerial responsibilities in commerce, industry and government. Its broad aim is to provide a program which will enable its graduates to apply contemporary management and business knowledge and perspectives in an interdisciplinary manner to the dynamic environments in which they are likely to find themselves as managers.

Within the MBA program you will study eight core courses focused on a range of areas of business such as marketing management, human resources management, economics for business and strategy development and initiatives. In addition to these core subjects, you will complete three courses either in one area of specialisation or study a range of subjects leading to a non-specialisation. The areas of specialisation include financial management, human resources management, management accounting, and marketing. You will complete your studies with one elective course that can be selected from any area in the university.

This degree is offered both on-campus and by distance education, full-time or part-time, giving you the flexibility to balance study with your work and family commitments. An MBA qualification is highly sought after by employers, both within Australia and internationally, enhancing your employment opportunities and giving you greater opportunities to work overseas or within a global organisation.

Prerequisites

Entry requirements for the Master of Business Administration include:

• A bachelor degree in any discipline from an Australian university or college, together with at least two years of work experience in a management capacity, or equivalent; or
• An honours degree in business, management, commerce or economics from an Australian university, or equivalent; or
• A CQUniversity Graduate Diploma of Management or equivalent.

Career Opportunities

On completing a Master of Business Administration, you will be qualified to undertake major managerial positions in industry, commerce or government, in a range of business areas and operations including organisational behaviour, economics, accounting, finance, marketing, operations management and human resources management.

Program Structure

You are required to complete 12 courses (96 units of credit) including:

• 8 core courses;
• 3 specialisation courses (from the specialisations listed for this program) chosen according to the rules for each stated specialisation; and
• 1 elective selected from any postgraduate course selected from the University provided prerequisites have been met.

All students graduate from the MBA with either a stated specialisation or a non-specialisation.  Students who take the option of a non-specialisation will be able to study a broader range of areas and will graduate with a 'Master of Business Administration'.  Students wishing to follow a program of study which concentrates on a specific area or field can choose from the specialisations listed (see the Courses section for more detail).
