Program overview
The Master of Business Administration (MBA) is designed to equip graduates with the essential skills and competencies in management and business administration that are essential for those who aspire to reach the top of their profession.

 

The MBA, consisting of 12 courses, is built from the four-course Graduate Certificate in Business Administration and the eight-course Graduate Diploma in Business Administration resulting in a comprehensive qualification.

 

Courses in the MBA cover accounting, economics, management, finance, law and marketing. Many of these courses incorporate case studies of problems encountered in workplaces and industries.

 

Flexible study modes: on campus, online, or multi-modal
On campus and online study modes are available for this program. Multi-modal study provides further flexibility whereby students can study in one or more modes simultaneously to suit work or lifestyle commitments. For example, online students are able to attend lectures on campus should they wish to. This option is not available for international students studying on a student visa.

 

Admission requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree from a recognised higher education institution and a minimum of two years' relevant work experience are the requirements for entering the Master of Business Administration program.

  • Applicants without an undergraduate degree must have at least three years' relevant work experience and also:
  1. must pass a qualifying Business Select or approved equivalent examination (eg GMAT)
  2. may be required to undertake an interview
  3. must pass the qualifying four-course Graduate Certificate in Business Administration prior to continuing with the remaining courses in the MBA
Enrolment via this pathway is limited to 10 percent of total applicants.

  • English language requirement:
Applicants whose first language is other than English must demonstrate an appropriate level of English proficiency by providing evidence of successful completion, within the last five years, of one of the qualifications below:
  • IELTS - 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 6.0 in all subtests, or
  • TOEFL - 575 with TWE of 5 (paper-based test) OR 230 (computer-based test), or
  • Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English - Level A Pass, or
  • previous degree completed in English.
International students need to refer to the English language requirements.

 

Advanced standing
Students with an undergraduate degree
No advanced standing will be granted to students with an undergraduate qualification.

 

Students with postgraduate qualifications
Students who have completed postgraduate courses elsewhere may apply for advanced standing up to a maximum of 50 percent for the Master of Business Administration, Graduate Certificate in Business Administration and the Graduate Diploma in Business Administration. The content of the courses would need to overlap the University of the Sunshine Coast course content by at least 75 percent.

 

Program requirements
Students are required to successfully complete 12 courses as specified from those listed below. Students wishing to study full time will be required to take the courses as offered in each session of study. Refer to the Academic Rules for further information.
