Master of Applied Linguistics (MAPPLI)About the Course
Graduates of the course will be well prepared for work as specialist teachers, educational administrators, and other language professionals, and with appropriate choices of options they can also be prepared to continue on to a research degree. Course Structure The course comprises one Core unit in Linguistic Foundations and Specialist Electives which can be chosen to support a specialisation in either Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) or literacy teaching. Students with substantial study of applied linguistics will be allowed to substitute one or more Specialist Electives with units from other relevant courses such as Education. Opportunities exist for students preparing to continue on to a research degree to include a research methodology unit and minor project.
A candidate must successfully complete units totalling 80 credit points. Career Opportunities Graduates may seek employment as specialist teachers, educational administrators, and other language professionals.
