Management (Certificate IV to Diploma)

This course gives students the skills and knowledge to provide leadership and management in meeting business objectives. Students will learn skills in business administrative procedures, human resources, team development and coordination and implementation of business strategies. Other topics include managing performance, managing budgets and resources, recruiting, selecting and inducting staff.

In Perth - Thornlie, Bentley, Joondalup, Northbridge, Fremantle and Midland offer the Cert IV & Diploma. In Regional W.A. - Bunbury offers both the Cert IV & Diploma and Broome only the Cert IV.
Swan, West Coast, Central, Challenger, South West Regional, Kimberley
A$4,950 per semester or A$9,900 per year
February and July (except Fremantle & Bunbury which have Feb intakes only and Midland which has a Feb intake only for the Diploma)
Graduates of Challenger (Fremantle) will be able to enter the Bachelor of Commerce at Notre Dame or Murdoch universities in W.A. Graduates of West Coast (Joondalup) will be able to enter a range of Bachelor degrees at Edith Cowan university.*
Up to 12 months credit at Notre Dame or Murdoch is available for Challenger graduates and 6 unit exemptions at ECU for West Coast graduates.*

General Entry Requirements and Pre-requisites

Entry into the Certificate IV requires the equivalent of Australian Year 12 with passes in English or completion of any Certificate III in Business.


What You'll Learn in Each Course

The Certificate IV provides students with the practical skills and knowledge to provide leadership and management in meeting business objectives. Students will learn skills in business administrative procedures, human resources, team development and the coordination of the implementation of business strategies.

The Diploma further develops the practical skills and knowledge to manage the operational areas of an organisation. Subjects covered include those in the Certificate IV plus how to manage people performance, recruit, select and induct staff, manage meetings, and prepare and manage budgets.


Career Outcomes

Depending on the stage of completion, graduates can enter into supervisor positions or become front line manager in medium and large organisations across all industry sectors.


Further Study & University Options

Graduates of the Diploma at Challenger TAFE (Fremantle) can enter the Bachelor of Commerce (Management) at Notre Dame University with credit of up to 12 months. They can also enter the Bachelor of Commerce (Management) at Murdoch University and receive credit of up to 12 months.

Graduates of the Diploma at West Coast TAFE (Joondalup) can enter into one of the following single major Bachelor degrees at Edith Cowan University (ECU) with credit of up to 6 unit exemptions: Business, Social Sciences (Leisure Management), Social Sciences (Sport Management), Tourism Management, Hospitality Management, e-Commerce, e-Business, Business (Hospitality, Wine, Tourism and Regional Enterprise).

Graduates of other Colleges may be able to continue in further studies at university in related subjects. Please contact your specific university of interest for more details on entry.
