Macquarie University Foundation Program (MQFP) - Fast track program
DURATION: 8 months full time
ENTRY POINTS: February/June/October
LOCATION: Sydney The program is suitable for students who have not completed the equivalent of Australian Year 12. Students study preparatory subjects in a small, supportive environment at Macquarie City Campus and have access to Macquarie City Campus and Macquarie Universit facilities. Once qualified, depending on the undergraduate program you wish to study, you can continue your bachelor degree at the North Ryde or city campus. Course structure
The foundation course is offered as a fast track program depending on a student's high school results. This qualification is made up of a number of core units and a select range of elective units. Teaching methods The fast track program consists of 208 contact hours, combined with a minimum of 100 hours of regular, supervised and self directed study. In addition, you will have a minimum of 5 contact hours a week for each unit which consist of a 2 hour lecture, a 2 hour workshop and a 1 hour tutorial. The program consists of the following: • Five scheduled course contact hours per week per unit (x 5 units = 25 hours) • Two scheduled contact hours per week per workshop (x 2 workshops = 4 hours) • Total face-to-face teaching per week of 29-hours each week (five hours per unit + two hours compulsory workshops).

- Mathematics (optional) – elective but required for most undergraduate courses
– General Mathematics – Intermediate Mathematics – Advanced Mathematics based on the degree
- Four workshops in total –compulsory
- Three electives – based on course preference
• Minimum credit points required for completion: 34 credit points • Total program scheduled course contact = 732 hours • Each subject (two units ie English 1 & 2) is delivered in a total of 130 hours (scheduled class contact) including exams.
Assessment methods Assessment encourages learning and indicates your level of achievement against set criteria, standards and learning objectives. Grades are awarded and are achieved by completing various assessments and tasks. Assessment methods vary depending on the course and units selected. We use a combination of assessment techniques, including individual and group assignments, essays, oral presentations, tutorial participation and formal examinations. Entry into a bachelor degree On successful completion of MQFP, students can marticulate into a bachelor degree at Macquarie City Campus or Macquarie University. Students who pass foundation studies, but do not gain admission into a bachelor degree can apply to study an SIBT Diploma either at Macquarie University, North Ryde or Macquarie City Campus. Academic requirements: Students are required to successfully complete Year 12, or its equivalent, for entry into Macquarie University Foundation Program - fast track program. English language requirements: - IELTS (Academic English only): 5.5 with 5.0 in each band
