Library & Information Services (Diploma)This course trains students to assist in the organisation and operation of systems for handling recorded material in the library and information services industry. Students learn skills which enable them to acquire, organise, maintain and promote library collections to a variety of client groups. They also learn how to provide clients with access to information through the use of technology and text based and electronic resources.
General Entry Requirements and Pre-requisites Entry into this course requires the equivalent of Australian Year 12 with passes in English or completion of any Certificate III in Business. Work Experience, Activities & Events As part of this qualification students undertake a supervised work placement where they are able to apply the skills and knowledge learnt. Career Outcomes Depending on the stage of completion, graduates have the opportunity to become a human resource officer and, with suitable experience, a senior human resource officer or supervisor. Further Study & University Options Successful completion of this qualification provides students with the opportunity to become a library technician. This is the first level of library/information services qualifications recognised by industry.
