IT Support & System Administration (Certificate III to Diploma)

Graduates are equipped with the skills required for maintaining computer hardware and software on stand-alone and networked systems and in diagnosing and rectifying system faults. The students also analyse emerging and current technology, manage the testing process and prepare disaster recovery plans. The students also incorporate risk management, troubleshooting, upgrading and maintenance.

In Perth - Thornlie offers all courses; Joondalup & Balga offer the Cert III & Cert IV; Bentley, Midland, Balga, Peel, Rockingham and Fremantle e-Tech offer the Cert III only. In Regional W.A. - Albany offers the Cert IV & Diploma

  • Certificate IV in Information Technology - Support
  • Diploma of Information Technology - Systems Administration

General Entry Requirements and Pre-requisites

Entry into the Certificate III requires the equivalent of Australian Year 11 with passes in English and Maths or completion of the Cert II in Information Technology.



What You'll Learn in Each Course

This program is designed to reflect the roles of team leaders and supervisors in the information technology industry. Graduates are equipped with skills required for maintaining computer hardware and software on stand-alone and networked systems, and in diagnosing and rectifying system faults.

In the final year students will acquire the skills to analyse emerging and current technology, manage the testing process and prepare disaster recovery/contingency plans. In addition students will also develop the skills for ongoing system management incorporating risk and communications management, troubleshooting, upgrading and maintenance.


Career Outcomes

Depending on the stage of completion, graduates can obtain jobs which involve the maintenance of operating systems and software for mainframes, desktop solutions or mid-range configurations. Graduates may also find employment as first-line managers and/or as advanced technical workers in systems management and maintenance.
