Irrigation (Certificate IV & Diploma)

Program Details  
This course is run at the WA Horticulture and Environmental Science Skills Centre and provides training in irrigation systems for Turf, Nursery, Landscape and Production horticulture. Students who complete the Certificate IV will have the technical skills to be able to provide some supervision of others in the work place. The Diploma provides students with further technical, supervisory and management skills that are required in the irrigation industry.

  • Certificate IV in Irrigation
  • Diploma of Irrigation


Program Components & Pathway

This program can include multiple courses and different entry and exit points providing students the flexibility to begin at the most suitable stage and continue studying till they reach their desired outcome.

General Entry Requirements and Pre-requisites

Entry into the Certificate IV requires the equivalent of Australian Year 10 with passes in English, Maths & Science.


What You'll Learn in Each Course

The WA Horticulture and Environmental Science Skills Centre is the main deliverer of irrigation training in Western Australia and has recently launched the new national irrigation qualifications into its program. This includes training irrigation systems in Turf, Nursery, Landscape and Production horticulture.


Work Experience, Activities & Events

Industry placement forms part of the assessment for several units in this course and provides students with skills for other assessments. It also allows students the opportunity to meet people involved in the irrigation industry, and gain better knowledge of what working in the irrigation industry involves.


Career Outcomes

Depending on the stage of completion, graduates can be employed as an Irrigation Installer, Irrigation Contractor or Designer, Irrigation maintenance/fitter or Irrigation Manager.


Further Study & University Options

Successful completion of the Diploma may allow students to continue further studies at university in related subjects. Please contact your specific university of interest for more details on entry.
