Industrial Electronics and Instrumentation (Certificate III and Diploma)

Program Details  
This qualification provides students with the skills and knowledge required to select, install, set up, test, fault find, repair and maintain systems and devices for measurement and recording of physical/chemical phenomenon and related process control. Students will learn to calibrate various instruments as well as the basic principles of operation of common temperature, pressure, flow, and level instrumentation. Students will also develop, select and commission industrial electronic components/ sub assemblies, apparatus and systems.

Qualifications Available in this Program (depending on your entry & exit points)

  • Certificate III in Electrotechnology - Instrumentation & Control
  • Diploma of Electrotechnology - Industrial Electronics and Instrumentation


General Entry Requirements and Pre-requisites

Entry into this course requires the equivalent of Australian Year 10 with passes in English, Maths and Science.


What You'll Learn in This Course

This course provides students with the skills and knowledge required to select, install, set up, test, fault find, repair and maintain systems and devices for measurement and recording of physical/chemical phenomenon and related process control. Students will learn to calibrate various instruments as well as the basic principles of operation of common temperature, pressure, flow, and level instrumentation. The students will learn the issues and factors that affect instrument calibration as related to industrial processes, including issues related to safety, performance, and process efficiency.


Career Outcomes

Graduates can gain employment as an Instrumentation or Control Technician in areas such as installation, support and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems, technical equipment sales and support; or advising and consulting on instrumentation and control systems.
