About the course
This program is aimed at practicing human resource management professionals, line managers responsible for human resource management functions and others wishing to enter the HRM profession.

 

Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management

The aim of the Graduate Certificate is to provide human resource practitioners and others with a quality practical and theoretical understanding of human resource management.

 

The program has been designed to:

 

  • provide an introduction to and an examination of the roles and functions of human resource management in organisations
  • examine how HR functions or techniques help an organisation to perform efficiently and effectively and assist organisations obtain a competitive advantage
  • investigate the ethical moral implications of the human resource functions and examine contemporary issues that are having a considerable impact upon work and industrial relations in Australian society
  • critically examine strategic human resource management in the context of a changing business environment.
Upon successful completion of the Graduate Certificate, students may apply to articulate into the Master of Human Resource Management program and receive credits for the subjects completed.

 

Master of Human Resource Management

The Master program has been designed to achieve three broad objectives:

 

  • to provide knowledge and skill development in graduates that permits career advancement to senior and executive roles in human resource management within both private and public sector organisations
  • to provide a broad range of human resource management subjects that have the capacity to enhance human resource management professional practice in and across organisational settings.
  • to articulate and foster an approach to human resource management that integrates and aligns various specialisations, including training and development, industrial relations, staffing and organisational development, into a broad framework that can make a positive contribution to organisational performance.

     

The program also seeks to integrate various specialisations within the field of human resource management into a broader framework. The design of the program recognises the barriers that once existed between specialists in training and development, industrial relations, staffing and organisational development are quickly disappearing.

 

Articulation and credit
The Master degree, the exit point only Graduate Diploma and the Graduate Certificate make up an articulated set of courses, and credit is awarded in the Master degree for the Graduate Certificate subjects.

 

Candidates may receive transfer credit for up to 50% of the course for prior study if they can demonstrate that such study was completed at a recognised higher education institution within the last 10 years at the postgraduate level. To apply for credit, candidates are required to submit with their application for admission a certified transcript of results and subject outline/curriculum of those subjects.

 

Graduation requirements
To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 96 points for the Master degree, and 32 points for the Graduate Certificate.

 

Students electing to graduate with the exit point only Graduate Diploma must satisfactorily complete 64 points.
