About Us

The University of Tasmania was officially established on 1st January 1890, by an Act of the Colony's Parliament and was only the fourth university to be established in nineteenth-century Australia. The University was originally located on the Domain in Hobart. As the University developed, it outgrew its original place and in the early 1940's began to transfer its departments to Sandy Bay, which became the new home for the institution.

Human Movement

Introduction

This on-campus 4-year (minimum) full-time or equivalent part-time course is offered through the Faculty of Education's Centre for Human Movement at the Launceston campus.

Admission & Prerequisites

Minimum University entry requirements apply. There are no specific prerequisite TCE subjects but success in subjects such as English, Sport Science, Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Adventure Education, and Adventure Leadership would be an advantage.

Course Objectives

The Bachelor of Human Movement is designed to produce well educated and adaptable graduates with appropriate professional skills and knowledge necessary to equip them for employment in a variety of human movement fields.

Career Outcomes

The Bachelor of Human Movement is designed to provide its graduates with the skills and knowledge needed to pursue a variety of careers in areas of human movement such as outdoor education teaching, the sport and recreation industry, health and physical education teaching, the fitness industry, sport coaching, injury rehabilitation, research and writing.

Graduates in the Health and Physical Education and Outdoor Education Teaching specialisation are recognised by the Tasmanian Teachers Registration Board for Tasmania Teacher Registration
