Graduate Diploma of Education (One to Nine)Teaching can be one of the most rewarding careers for individuals who enjoy working with children. However, some people may not have considered teaching as a profession until after they have completed an undergraduate degree. The Graduate Diploma of Education (Years One to Nine) will produce teachers who are flexible and aware of the key learning areas for this age spectrum. It helps to address the serious shortage of teachers in specialist areas, such as Mathematics and Science, and also prepares graduates to teach in the Middle Phase of Learning (Years Four to Nine). Graduates of the One to Nine program will have increased employment options being able to teach in both primary and secondary schools. The Graduate Diploma provides the perfect opportunity for graduates to qualify for a profession that is recognised throughout Australia and the world, in one year of full-time study. It is an intensive program meeting the requirements of the Queensland College of Teachers for registration as a teacher. Applicants should have a demonstrated record of achievement in their undergraduate degree and be committed to undertaking continuous professional development throughout their teaching career. The Graduate Diploma of Education program commences prior to the start of Study Period 1. The on-campus program orientation for the Years 1-9 major commences in Cairns on 4 February, 2009. An application for this course must be received by 31 October, 2008.
