Graduate Certificate in Employment Relations

About the course
The Graduate Certificate in Employment Relations is particularly in relevant for line managers at all levels, facing today’s rapidly changing employment environment.

 

Students will enhance their writing, analytical and evaluative skills and gain the knowledge to understand, analyse and evaluate employment relations and be able to anticipate developments within the context of contemporary employment relations changes.

 

On completion of the Graduate Certificate students should be able to:

 

  • demonstrate an understanding of the relationship of human resource management and industrial relations within the context of the employment relationship
  • demonstrate an understanding of Australian employment relations and its place in society
  • demonstrate an understanding of the roles played by management, trade unions, employers and their associations, and Federal and State governments
  • analyse the procedures, processes of interaction and settlement of conflict utilised by Australia including the tribunal system, enterprise bargaining and individual contracts
  • draw on inter-disciplinary approaches in the analysis of employment relations problems and issues
  • analyse the procedures and processes involved in employment relations.
Course requirements
The course consists of four subjects (8 subject points each) normally to be completed over one year of distance education study. To graduate, students must complete 32 subject points.

 

Graduation requirements
To graduate, students must satisfactorily complete 32 points (four subjects).
