Graduate Certificate in Clinical NeurophysiologyAbout the course The subject BMS239 explores the common aspects of clinical physiological measurement as employed in hospital and private laboratories that diagnose and monitor neurophysiological, cardiovascular and respiratory disease processes. It describes concepts important for clinical physiology measurement focusing on instrumentation characteristics and patient interaction. The subjects BMS329 and BMS321 provide the specialist neuroanatomical and neurophysiological foundation underpinning the methodological and physiological basis for clinical neurophysiological assessment. These subjects covers the most frequent diseases and syndromes of the nervous system and relate these to expected clinical presentation and fundamental clinical measurements used for diagnosis and monitoring. The subject BMS301 will allow the student to develop skills in literature searching, analytical review and effective written presentation of a comprehensive analysis of a specific topic relevant to neurophysiological measurement. Additionally it allows students to develop presentation skills in both oral and poster formats. Mode of offering The course is offered by distance education to maximise access to students who will be working in clinical neurophysiology laboratories across Australia and New Zealand . All distance education subjects have an online subject forum which facilitates interaction between students and academic staff.
