About Us

The Portland campus of Everest College was established in 1955. A leader right from the start, we are proud to have been the first college in Oregon to offer data processing skills as well as hands-on classroom training with actual computer equipment. In late 2005, the campus changed its name from Western Business College. This change reflected the diverse selection of fields offered beyond Business including Medical, Criminal Justice, and Travel. Our steady growth has kept in step with an expanding job market. We have moved four times, consistently upgrading to larger, state-of-the-art facilities. Today, we are proud to continue our tradition of providing students with cutting-edge curriculum and necessary resources to succeed in the ever-changing employment market.

STUDENT HOUSE

In the Student House, you will share a big house with other international students enrolled in The English Language Program. There is an American manager who lives in the house. He can help you with everything about living in the Student House.

In the student house, you will have a private room with your own key. Your room will have a bed, desk, lamp, closet, and mirror. We will provide towels, sheets, blankets, and pillows for you. Most rooms have their own sink. There are shared bathrooms on each floor of the house.

In the student house you will share a large, fully stocked kitchen, a large living room, and a dining room. You can use the cable TV, the VCR, a desktop computer, and our free wireless internet connection that covers the whole house. The house also has a shared phone line and answering machine. There is a coin operated washer and dryer in the basement.

Free bread and pastries are served twice a week and free bagels are served once a week. As a resident in the student house, you will have one weekly cleaning chore.

The Student House is located in the "Northwest 23rd" neighborhood. It is a very exciting and convenient part of Portland. It is surrounded by many great shops, cafes, bars, and restaurants. We are a short walk to 2 large grocery stores.

The Student House is near 2 bus lines, the MAX light rail train, the Portland Streetcar and 7 blocks from Portland's fareless square (free public transportation). It takes 20 minutes to walk to our school and 10 minutes by bus or train.

We are also a 5 minute walk to Portland's Rose Gardens and Forest Park, which features 30 miles of hiking and biking trails.

HOMESTAYS

If you like we can introduce you to an American family. This is a great way to experience Portland life and American culture. Homestays are also a great way to improve your English while making life long friends.

We carefully choose our homestay families and we find the family that is the best match for you. All of our families are friendly and kind. They have clean, safe houses, and they are eager to open their homes to you.

In your homestay, you will have a private, furnished room. Two meals a day are provided (usually breakfast and dinner). Most Homestays are about 30 minutes away from school by bus or train.
