Event Management (Certificate III & Diploma)

Program Details  
This course trains students to plan and organise special events and to manage and supervise such activities. Subjects covered include skills in coaching and managing staff, marketing, developing event proposals, bids and programs, developing sponsorship programs, managing projects, finance and budgeting, implementing and monitoring business systems and providing on site management of events.

  • Diploma of Event Management


Program Components & Pathway

This program can include multiple courses and different entry and exit points providing students the flexibility to begin at the most suitable stage and continue studying till they reach their desired outcome.


General Entry Requirements and Pre-requisites

Entry at Diploma level requires the equivalent of Australian Year 12 with passes in English; however, the course length is 18 months for direct entry. Entry at the Certificate III level requires the equivalent of Australian Year 10 with passes in English & Maths; however, the Diploma will only take 12 months after completion of the Cert III.


What You'll Learn in This Course

The Certificate III provides students with the practical skills and knowledge to assist in the coordination of meetings, events and functions. Students learn skills in customer service, computing, administrative procedures, effective communication, organising functions, creating displays, coordinating registrations, and preparing quotes. They also learn how to communicate ideas, collect information, plan and organise activities, work in teams and solve problems.

The Diploma provides students with the practical skills and knowledge to plan and organise special events and to manage and supervise such activities. Career Outcomes

Depending on the stage of completion, graduates can gain employment as an assistant events or meetings/functions coordinator and with suitable experience an events/festival manager and sports/corporate events manager. Graduates, with experience, can seek employment in senior positions as a Conference Manager, Events and/or Conference Co-ordinator, Independent Meetings Manager or Venue Co-ordinator for corporate, sporting and cultural events.


Further Study & University Options

Successful completion of the Diploma at Northbridge may allow students to continue further studies at university in related subjects. Please contact your specific university of interest for more details on entry.
