Drafting & Design - Civil Engineering (Cert III to Adv. Diploma)This course offers students broad training in engineering with specific training for the civil sector of the engineering industry enabling a career in the building and construction sector. Students learn about different areas in civil engineering, including construction, maintenance, project management, design and testing. They also learn about the design and drafting of concrete, steelwork, roads, and pipes as well as hydrology, storm water drainage and foundations.

General Entry Requirements and Pre-requisites Entry into the Certificate IV requires the equivalent of Australian Year 12 with passes in English and Mathematics. Or students can commence with the Certificate III in Drafting before proceeding to the Diploma. What You'll Learn in Each Course This program offers students broad training in engineering with specific training for the civil sector of the engineering industry enabling a career in the building and construction sector. Students learn about different areas in civil engineering, including construction, maintenance, project management, design and testing. They also learn about the design and drafting of concrete, steelwork, roads, and pipes as well as hydrology, storm water drainage and foundations. The Advanced Diploma satisfies the academic requirements of an Associate Membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia and membership of the Institute of Drafting and Design. Career Outcomes Depending on the stage of completion, graduates can become a civil engineering draftsperson, associate or technician. Further Study & University Options Successful completion of the Advanced Diploma will allow entry to the Bachelor of Engineering (Civil & Construction Engineering) at Curtin University in W.A.
