Doctor of Business AdministrationDuration (International) 3.5 years Assessment (Internat.) Typically the program requires a minimum of six semesters of study, although prior qualifications and experience might reduce this. The standard structure comprises four Advanced Study Units (ASUs), four thematically related Research Projects (RPs) and a dissertation. The structure is established in the form of a Program Plan at the time of enrolment. The plan includes commencement and completion dates, titles of planned units and the names of the unit leaders. Advanced Study Units ASUs relate to the theoretical framework of the proposed dissertation. Normally, one of the ASUs will be Advanced Research Methodology and another Critically Annotated Bibliography. An essay of approximately 5000 words is normally required for each ASU. Research Projects RPs are field-based studies thematically linked to the proposed dissertation. A written paper of between 7,500 and 10,000 words is normally required for each RP. Dissertation The dissertation is a written commentary of no more than 60,000 words, drawing together the arguments and conclusions of the ASUs and RPs. Outline The DBA – the ‘professional doctorate’ – involves integrated course work and research. It advances knowledge as well as demonstrating the application of new knowledge in practical situations. Experienced practitioners can use this degree to enhance their professional managerial competence and insights. The portfolio of activities combines rigorous academic theory with management practice. The successful DBA graduate will demonstrate theoretical, practical and scholarly expertise, which will provide a platform for advancing careers in professional practice or academic spheres. Career Opportunities Depending on the area of study completed, most graduates of this course would expect to be employed in the higher education sector, government sector, or private sector. RPL and Credit Transfer International students wishing to apply for RPL and Credit Transfer are required to provide syllabus of previous study undertaken at time of applying for course. Not all courses offer RPL and Credit Transfer.
