Diploma of Sport and Recreation

  • Duration: 2 Years
  • Note: one year of study is equivalent to not less than 36 weeks of instruction.

  • Entry Requirements: Satisfactory completion of Year 12 or equivalent English proficiency demonstrated by an IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent

    Competency based training methodology for all units within Trainin Packages.
  • Expected Employment Outcome Example: There is a strong growth in sport, fitness, community and outdoor recreation activities, and increased public awareness of health and fitness issues. Courses in this area will train you for employment in sport and recreation venues (e.g. leisure centres), health and fitness centres, and outdoor recreation businesses as development officers; sport and recreation program leaders; coaches; personal trainers; fitness instructors; sport and recreation supervisors and managers; adventure tour guides and outdoor recreation assistants and leaders.
  • Note: Completion of a TAFE SA course does not guarantee an employment outcome. Formal requirements other than educational qualifications (eg licensing, professional registration), may apply to some occupations.
  • Skills Covered:
    Establishing, creating and enhancing effective working relationships; human resource management and event management; maintaining and evaluating OHS systems; managing and co-ordinating projects; managing personal work; managing quality client service; marketing; meeting processes and managing the establishment and maintenance of a group network; planning and establishing office administration systems and procedures; preparing and presenting information; priorities and professional development; promoting compliance with laws and legal principles; providing leadership in the workshop; records systems and library or resource collections and researching.
