Diploma of Nursing

Accreditation

The Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled/Division 2) program offered by EQUALS International (Aust) Pty Ltd is registered with the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) and therefore we are able to accept International Students.

Successful completion of the Diploma of Nursing qualifies graduates to enrol with the Nurses Board of South Australia and practice as an Enrolled Nurse.

Students undertaking this Diploma level qualification can expect to spend 20 contact hours per week. This time is made up of structured lectures, tutorials, structured clinical work placement and other formal study requirements as required. Students can expect to spend an additional average of 10 – 15 hours personal study and research.

15 months, including clinical skills days and clinical work experience

April or September

Entry Requirements

Satisfactory completion of year 12 or completion of Certificate III studies in an area related to nursing. English proficiency demonstrated by IELTS 5.5. Ability to meet the physical demands of nursing work, in particular, the requirements of manual handling.

 fundamental nursing procedures

 legal and ethical practice

 complex nursing procedures

 administering and monitoring medications

 palliative care for the terminally ill

 nursing care for chronic health problems

 nursing care for acute health problems

 mental health

 aged care

 medical nursing

 surgical nursing

University Credit Recognition

Completion of the Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled/Division 2) will provide the equivalent of 12 months of credit in the Bachelor of Nursing course at the University of South Australia or the equivalent of 12 months of credit in the Bachelor of Nursing (Pre-registration) at Flinders University.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

RPL is an approach that takes into account what individuals have learned from other courses, life experiences, work experiences and training provided at work. It measures this experience against the outcomes of the course students wish to complete. Students will need to produce evidence to support their case. A successful RPL application may lead to a reduction in the length of the course. RPL attracts a fee of 30% of the standard  course/tuition fee.

This sets out the guidelines for the ethical conduct of registered providers of courses to International Students. EQUALS International is a registered provider of courses for International Students and is committed to meeting educational standards outlined in the National Code of Practice issued by the Australian Government.
