What is: Interactive Digital Media?
Interactive Digital Media involves a number of technologies that allow visual and audio media to be combined in new ways of communication for entertainment, education and advertising purposes. Today’s modern societies are strongly influenced by various multimedia productions that touch each of us in many different ways in our professional and personal lives – it may be a computer program, an iPod or iPhone app, the latest console game or an interactive business website. In recent years, the scope of multimedia has taken on different meanings to an ever increasing audience and will continue to evolve as new technologies and applications develop.
Program Overview
AIT’s Diploma of Interactive Digital Media course offers students comprehensive skills in graphic design, animation, web design, digital film making and games design. This course is designed to produce digital media professionals that are industry ready and equipped to pursue a career in the fields of creative IT and multimedia.
The skills learned in this course are fundamental in developing complex multimedia productions, like advanced 3d animation and interactive games. Students interested in games design and 3d animation are encouraged to continue their studies with AIT’s Advanced Diploma of Screen & Media (Games Development) where students learn advanced 3d modelling skills and games development theories and techniques.
Target Audience
This qualification is aimed towards individuals (both domestic and international students) who wish to obtain a breadth of knowledge and skills in the field of interactive media design. It is recommended that students possess some background and interests in multimedia productions and programming. Many students moving into this program have previously completed some level of training through previous Diploma of Certificate qualifications, the industry experience, or high school.
Entry Requirements
As all lessons and assessments are conducted in English, an adequate level of English is strongly recommended. This includes suitable levels of competence in reading, writing, and comprehending the English language. International students must comply with DIAC requirements and should have an IELTS or equivalent score of 5.5 or above. Further Studies AIT’s Higher Education and Vocational Programs are highly regarded by the industry.
