Competency based training is concerned with assisting people to gain specific competencies which are required in the workplace. This course has been designed to meet the particular skills and knowledge appropriate to this vocational area. A student will be assessed by performing set tasks at specified standards, under prescribed conditions.
Outline
The Diploma of Information Technology is an innovative and energetic program that provides a learning pathway to an internationally renowned Bachelor degree — making you hot property within the IT employment market. Class sizes are limited to 24 people per group, assuring students of personalised attention.
On successful completion of the first three semesters, you are eligible to receive both a Certificate IV in Information Technology (21488VIC) and a Diploma in Information Technology (21489VIC). You will then be guaranteed entry into the second year of the University's Bachelor of Information Technology course. This flexible option boosts your resumé by up to three qualifications.

This course also provides direct articulation into the Bachelor of Information Technology with 12 units of credit. Students will only need to complete a further eighteen months of study to obtain their degree.
RPL and Credit Transfer
International students wishing to apply for RPL and Credit Transfer are required to provide syllabus of previous study undertaken at time of applying for course. Not all courses offer RPL and Credit Transfer. Contact the International Student Programs office at international@ballarat.edu.au

Underpinned by the Australian Qualifications Training Framework (AQTF) and International Standard ISO 9001:2000, the Unipath program offers flexible delivery and provides intensive, individualised student support within small classes and a nurturing learning environment.
Requirements
The course consists of 20 core units of competency and up to 790 nominal hours of electives. The entire course contains 1460-1550 nominal hours. Students must complete all competencies over the 18 months to obtain this award.
International students must meet the following basic entry requirements (see below):
· Academic entry requirements
· English language entry requirements
· At least 18 years of age at the time of the student’s proposed commencement of studies at the university
