Diploma of Hospitality ManagementAssessment (Internat.) Compentency based training is concerned with assisting people to gain specific competencies which are required in the workplace. This course has been designed to meet the particular skills and knowledge appropriate to this vocatinal area. A student will be assessed by performing set tasks at specific standards under prescribed conditions. Set tasks will include paractical activities in addition to exams, assignments, group work and essays. Assessment to include: Assignments and projects Tests on theoretical knowledge. Practical assessment of skills application Outline The Diploma of Hospitality Management course will prepare you for role of a middle-manager in any functional area of the Hospitality industry. To achieve this, you will progress from supervisory to middle-management skills and knowledge. Extending your skills from a greater theoretical base will enable you to acquire the specialised, technical or managerial skills and knowledge needed to plan, carry out and evaluate your own work and that of your team. Career Opportunities Successful completion of the Diploma of Hospitality Management will allow you to work as a team leader/supervisor in the functional areas of the Hospitality industry including food and beverage, front office, housekeeping, and retail/hospitality operations. RPL and Credit Transfer International students wishing to apply for RPL and Credit Transfer are required to provide syllabus of previous study undertaken at time of applying for course. Not all courses offer RPL and Credit Transfer. Contact the International Student Programs office at international@ballarat.edu.au * Students who have successfully completed the Certificate III in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) at University of Ballarat will be eligible for six months credit into the Diploma of Hospitality Management. Objectives This course provides students with extensive practical and theoretical knowledge in the areas of Commercial Cookery, Food and Beverage Service and Hospitality Management skills. This course is extremely diverse in content and covers topics ranging from, cookery and menu development to food and beverage service,rostering staff and leadership skills. Requirements This course is delivered over 1475 hours (795 core and 680 elective units). To attain the Diploma of Hospitality Management, you must demonstrate competency in all core and elective units.
