Cambridge International College is a highly respected English Language College and VET school, which, also offers Community Welfare (PR), Graphic Pre Press (PR), Multimedia, Business and Hairdressing (PR) courses. Diploma of Community Welfare

Description of the Qualification

The Diploma of Community Welfare goes over a two year period and will be delivered full time. The course is intended to make ready students to work at a professional level in the human services industry, like in self-help groups, community organizations, statutory services and church agencies. Delivery is in-classroom with work done in the field. Field work is an essential section of the training.

Community Welfare Workers are generally connected with service delivery, either community education and/or direct client work and community development projects. Workers at this level are needed to have a clear understanding of Indigenous history and culture and to work with local communities in the supply of services. Could be that they have obligation for the supervision of other staff and volunteers.

Duration

The Diploma is full time and delivered over a period of 2 years (72 weeks).

Career Opportunities

After you have successfully completed the Diploma your qualification enables you to apply for positions as Welfare Worker in the government and non-government sectors. Workers with this qualification work at an advanced skill level and may also have obligation for the supervision of other staff and volunteers.

Entry Requirements

You need to have completed Year 12 or equivalent. Mature age students with relevant work and/or life experience may be admitted through interview or assessment. English level of IELTS 5.5 or its equivalent necessary.

Industry Recognition

This course is recognized and accredited by the Australian Institute of Welfare and Community Workers (AIWCW)

Further Studies and Recognition

If you successfully completed the Diploma of Community Welfare at Cambridge International College makes possible for students to enter the second year of the Bachelor of Social Work at Victoria University (VU) and The University of South Australia.
