Diploma of Community Welfare Work
Course Description: The Diploma of Community Welfare Work is designed to equip participants with the skills, knowledge and understanding to work in the community welfare sector in service delivery to clients, in a wide variety of settings. On successful completion of this program, graduates will be able to provide a holistic approach to client needs including social, emotional, psychological and practical support. They also develop knowledge and skills of specific client needs and the operation of the community welfare sector. Entry Requirements Entry into Certificate and Diploma programs requires an English level, at least equivalent to IELTS 5.5. Schedule The course is delivered over two years full-time study during which 19 units must be completed. The academic year follows the state school calendar providing holiday breaks that align to school holidays. Students attend classes for approximately 3 days a week. Mode of study and assessment This course is delivered in a classroom based environment with practical requirements simulated to reflect the training requirements. The delivery of training will include a mixture of classroom delivery, group discussions, and individual research.
