Note: one year of study is equivalent to not less than 36 weeks of instruction.

Course Type: Training Package Qualification

Entry Requirements: The minimum academic requirement is satisfactory completion of: Certificate II in an area related to children's services or any Vocational Certificate III or Year 11 plus 1 year work experience or Year 12 or an equivalent qualification. In addition, students will require an ability to study in English as demonstrated by an IELTS score of 5.5.

Assessment Method: Modules Module based assessment used such as tests, practicals.

Expected Employment Outcome Example: Graduates in childcare can work with children from babies up to 12 years old in long day care, occasional care, family day care, out of school hours care and vacation care. The diploma course may assist in gaining entry into university.

Skills Covered: Children's cognitive, language, social, emotional and physical development; planning care routines; building relationships with children and families; organising and providing experiences for children; interpreting observations to design and evaluate programmes; working with culturally diverse clients; duty of care; workplace practices and policies; managing workplace issues; and implementing and monitoring OH&S.
