Computer Systems - Electrotechnology (Cert III & Diploma)

Provides students with the technical skills and knowledge to maintain and diagnose faults in computer systems and networks. Included in the course is the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA). This highly sort after industrial certification in internationally recognised. CISCO Systems (3rd largest computer company in the world) has teamed with Central TAFE in Perth to offer this networking certification.

General Entry Requirements and Pre-requisites

Entry into the Certificate III requires the equivalent of Australian Year 10 with passes in English.


What You'll Learn in Each Course

Students will learn to develop, select, commission, maintain and diagnose faults/malfunctions of computer and network components/sub-assemblies, apparatus and systems. Additionally, Cisco Systems, the world’s third largest computer company, has teamed with Central TAFE to provide an opportunity for students to obtain a base certification in networking – the Cisco Certified Networking Associate or CCNA. This qualification has been integrated into this Diploma and offers a dual opportunity for students to gain both a Diploma and industrial certification. The course of study for the CCNA examination consists of four modules held over four ten week terms. Each module consists of a highly integrated mixture of multimedia curriculum and practical, hands-on experience, using state of art equipment similar to that in extensive use on internetworks around the globe.


Career Outcomes

Depending on the stage of completion, graduates can gain employment as an Engineering Associate or Technical Officer responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and commissioning of systems such as an internetworking, security, and computers. In these roles graduates will be qualified to perform duties associated with the, installation, commissioning, evaluation, testing, fault-finding, repair and maintenance of the equipment.
