Community Welfare Work (Diploma)

This course provides the students with the skills and knowledge to manage the service delivery of community organisations. Students learn skills in consultation, community program development, group work, advocacy, case management, policy and research. As part of the qualification students undertake a supervised work placement.

In Perth - Mt Lawley, Joondalup, Fremantle and Midland. In Regional W.A. - Albany & Geraldton

Feb and July (except Mt Lawley & Albany which have Feb intakes only)
A current Senior First Aid Certificate is required before undertaking supervised work placement. Students can complete a senior first aid course on campus. A Federal Police Clearance is required prior to work placement and employment in most community services agencies.*
The First Aid certificate costs around A$100
These courses include a significant workplace component*

General Entry Requirements and Pre-requisites

To enter this Diploma students must complete any Certificate IV in Community Services (except Childrens Services)


Special Requirements

> A current Senior First Aid Certificate is required before undertaking supervised work placement. Students can complete a senior first aid course on campus - which must be finished in the first 6 weeks.

> A Federal Police Clearance is required prior to work placement and employment in most community services agencies.

What You'll Learn in this Course

This qualification provides students with the practical skills and knowledge to manage the service delivery of community service organisations. Students learn skills in consultation, community program development, group work, advocacy, case management, policy, and research. They also learn skills in the management of finances, work safety, and the work environment. They undertake projects that involve working as part of a team and with the community.


Work Experience, Activities & Events

As part of this course students will undertake a supervised or simulated work placement where they are able to apply the skills and knowledge learnt.


Career Outcomes

Graduates of this course can gain employment as a community worker, case worker/coordinator or welfare worker.
