Certificate IV in TESOL

Course Aims

This course is aimed at people who wish to teach English as a
Foreign/Second Language (EFL/ESL) in Australia and overseas and
qualified Australian and overseas teachers.
The Certificate IV in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
(TESOL) is a short intensive course that offers basic training in
teachingEnglish to speakers of other languages. This is an initial
teacher training program, which, in addition to a degree and either 800
hours of teaching experience or a Diploma of Education, meets the
minimum NEAS requirement for registration as an ESL teacher in
Australia. This course will enable participants to teach English
overseas.

Assessment Methods

The achievement of competence will be assessed by a range of
methods aiming at maximum flexibility and customization to address
specific needs and leaning situations
• Observation of ongoing activities
• Short formal and informal tests
• Presentation of Portfolios
• Role plays
• Observation of group discussion

Duration

Full-time 10 weeks

Prerequisites:

Successful completion of Year 12 or equivalent AND;
Aged over 18 AND;
International students: English language skills at least equivalent to
IELTS 6.0 OR IELTS 5.5 with maximum 20 weeks ELICOS course OR
minimum 10 weeks EAP at Ozford English Language Centre.
