Advanced Diploma of Advertising and Graphic Design

  • Entry Requirements: Satisfactory completion of Year 12 or equivalent overseas qualification is regarded as the minimum academic requirement for entry. English proficiency demonstrated by an IELTS score of 5.5 is essential. You will need to have a strong understanding and development in drawing and design and some experience using computers. You may also need to submit a folio which demonstrates: orderliness and attention to detail creative and artistic ability a sincere interest in pursuing a career in the communications media industry.

  • Expected Employment Outcome Example:
    Persons employed in the Advertising & Graphic Design industry produce artwork and page layouts for reproduction in print and electronic media such as magazines, newspapers, books and websites, and for corporate identity programs, exhibitions and for a broad spectrum of advertising campaigns. Graphic designers may specialise in a variety of fields including television, film, web design and computer graphics; set and exhibition design; corporate design; book and magazine design, advertising and illustration. They may progress to positions as design directors, art directors or creative directors. Graphic designers may work as members of design studios or advertising agencies, or alone undertaking consultancy or freelance work. Graphic designers must be creative and imaginative, understand colour and form, and be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, have good marketing and communication skills abilities and be able to work as part of a team.

    Multimedia and web development; design management; colour management; industry placement; marketing; research and development project; and visual communication - advanced studio practice and exhibition project.
