Certificate IV in Aged Care

This qualification provides knowledge and skills to plan, develop, implement and monitor programs and services for older people. Student will learn skills to assess the needs of older people. Students will also learn how to monitor services, implement and monitor health and safety policies and procedures and organise an effective work environment..
 
Workers in these occupational groups work in residential facilities and carry out activities related to the maintenance of an individual's well being through personal care and/or other activities of living. These workers may provide services to individuals with complex needs, and/or work with the groups of older people. Work may include training and support to promote independence andcommunity participation. This may be provided as part of
activities and programs in a variety of settings incuding residential and centre-based programs. These workers report to service managers and liaise with professionals and other service providers. Workers may be required to supervise and/or co-ordinate a limited number of other workers. Workers at this level are required to have an understanding of indigenous culture and history and to work with local communities in the provision of services.

Duration 26 weeks (Full Time)
Work Placement Satisfactory completion of at least 100 hrs of work placement is mandatory for the successful completion of the course. Student will be placed at various residential care facilities by AICL.

There will be 30 hours of orientation/practical demonstration sessions prior to the actual work placement. These sessions will be held in week 3 until week 6. After 30 hrs sessions students would be working at various residential care facilities for one day a weekto complete required 100 hours of unpaid work experience which will begin in week 7 of the term 1.
