Certificate III-IV in Automotive Mechanical Technology
DURATION: Certificate III: 15 Months full time, Certificate IV: 9 Months full time

The Certificate III in Automotive Mechanical Technology (AUR30405) provides trainees with practical knowledge of workshop practices and procedures, specific to the Automotive Industry. Trainees will learn how to service, repair and diagnose faults in motor vehicles weighing up to 4.5 tonnes including light vehicle engines, transmission, suspensions, steering, brakes, electrical systems and other components.
The Certificate IV in Automotive Technology (AUR40208) is designed to extend trainees skills to workshop practices and procedures, and business practices. The structure of the course gives trainees a sound understanding of vehicle construction, component identification, operating principles and electronic systems.
Qualification & Recognition
On successful completion of this course, students are eligible to receive the (AUR30405)Certificate III in Automotive Mechanical Technology – Light Vehicle and/or the Certificate IV in Automotive Technology (AUR40208) depending upon the chosen course of study.
Recognition of Prior Learning and Credit Transfer
Students may be able to shorten the length of their chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF Qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by other registered training organisations may be recognised by Cambridge International College.
Assessment includes a combination of written and online assignments, tests, examinations and practical application projects.
Graduates of the Certificate III in Automotive Mechanical Technology will have gained the skills and knowledge to work as a light vehicle motor mechanic in the Automotive Industry. Those that complete the Certificate IV in Automotive Technology open opportunities to work as a light vehicle motor mechanic in the automotive industry and may lead to a leadership or technician role.
Opportunity for Further Study
Graduates of the Certificate III in Automotive Mechanical Technology and/or the Certificate IV in Automotive Technology may consider complementing their practical knowledge by completing the Diploma of Management.
The Certificate III of Automotive Mechanical Technology is delivered over five, 9-week terms, with a 1 week break between each term. The Certificate IV in Automotive Technology is delivered over three 9-week terms, with a 1 week break between each term.
In Adelaide the study mode is full time and consists of 20 hours per week. In Melbourne the study mode is also full time and consists of 16 contact hours and 4 hours of off-campus learning activities per week. Trainees have the option to study in a daytime or evening schedule subject to availability. Intakes in April, July, September and November may include a summer term.
