Certificate III in Aged Care Work

  • Duration: 26 Weeks
  • Note: one year of study is equivalent to not less than 36 weeks of instruction.
  • Course Type: Training Package Qualification
  • Entry Requirements: Satisfactory completion of Year 11 or overseas equivalent. English proficiency demonstrated by an IELTS score of 5.5

    Module based assessment used such as tests, practicals.
  • Expected Employment Outcome Example: Community service workers are employed in many fields. Graduates may find themselves working in community development; community legal centres; women's or youth refuges; residential aged care services and community aged care services; and disability services including residential services, recreation programs, educational support services, advocacy, employment support services and respite services. There are also employment opportunities for graduates in social housing; out of home care settings; youth services; juvenile residential facilities; alcohol and drug services; advocacy services; mental health (non clinical) settings; and aged or disability respite services.
  • Note: Completion of a TAFE SA course does not guarantee an employment outcome. Formal requirements other than educational qualifications (eg licensing, professional registration), may apply to some occupations.
  • Skills Covered:
    Assisting people with their personal care needs; dealing with emotional and psychosocial needs; dementia care; communication; providing direct care and support services for the aged residing in both residential and/or community based settings; and following OH&S procedures.
