Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honours)

Assessment (Internat.)

Assessment occurs for practical studio investigation, written exegesis and illustrated seminar.

Outline

This studio-based course provides a fourth year of intensive study in Visual Arts and an introduction to formal research. The program is divided into two principal areas: studio-based research, and theoretical issues. Studio-based research permits an in-depth inquiry within your chosen specialist studio discipline(s). The studio-based aspect of the course is refined and developed in consultation with the coordinator of the program and appointed supervisor(s) in order that you work toward the goals outlined in your research proposal. Theoretical issues places your project within contemporary and historical contexts, allowing you to undertake a body of research culminating in an exegesis (of 5,000 words) and a seminar. You will also participate in a tutorial/seminar program involving discussion and criticism relating to studio-based research issues.

Career Opportunities

As a graduate of this program, you will have the opportunity to work as a professional artist, commercial potter, graphic designer, member of gallery staff, or as a consultant to the arts industry, government bodies and general industry.
