Career Opportunities

Science graduates with a major in Geology/ Economic Geology are uniquely qualified to enter careers in the mining industry or government agencies with interests in natural resources. They locate new reserves of crude oil, gas, coal, minerals, uranium, precious metals and water, and, determine the most feasible way of extracting these resources and rehabilitating sites.

Professional Recognition

Both Bachelor of Science programs in earth science are recognised by the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. Graduates are eligible to join the following professional associations: Australian Institute of Geoscientists; Environment Institute of Australia; Geological Society of Australia; and The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.
