• Suitable for those with no prior knowledge or industry experience or for those currently working in the ambulance service.

CQUniversity’s Bachelor of Paramedic Science opens up opportunities for you to have an exciting and rewarding career in emergency care. The program is designed to provide graduates with the skills and knowledge to practice and deliver emergency pre-hospital medical and trauma care. The fi rst year of the program provides foundation knowledge in sciences, human body systems, study and research skills and paramedic practice. Years two and three focus on disease processes and their emergency treatment with practical placements in paramedic care where you will work closely with paramedics and respond to real-life emergency situations.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
On completion of a Bachelor of Paramedic Science you will have developed the expertise and skills to work as a health professional in emergency medicine. As a graduate you may also choose to undertake further study and specialise in intensive care paramedic practice, aviation and retrieval medicine, special operations or clinical education.

PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION
The program has received preliminary approval with the Council of Ambulance Authorities (CAA).
As a student you are eligible for membership with Student Paramedics Australasia (SPA) with membership with Paramedics Australasia (previously ACAP) upon employment with an ambulance service.

STUDY REQUIREMENTS
There are compulsory residential schools/workshops attached to the program when studying by distance education.
You are required to undertake a minimum of 14 weeks (560 hours) of compulsory off-campus clinical placements in Queensland during the three years of the program.
