About the course

As a registered nurse with a degree you are in a good position to further your career in all areas of nursing practice, education or management. The Bachelor of Nursing Science is an investment in your future.

The Bachelor degree offers:

If you anticipate progress to higher studies, the Bachelor of Nursing Science offers successful graduates the option of continuing to higher studies, including honours, master and doctoral programs at CSU.

Credit

Charles Sturt University frequently recognises prior learning including study at other institutions. Each request for credit is individually assessed at the time of application. If you are made an offer of a place in the course you will be notified in the Offer of Admission of the amount of approved credit.

The following credit may be offered to those students who meet the following criteria:

  • a Diploma of Nursing from a college or tertiary level program: 20 subjects credit leaving 12 subjects in total to be studied
  • a Diploma of Nursing from a hospital based program: 16 subjects credit leaving 16 subjects in total to be studied
  • tertiary subjects completed at an accredited university additional to the nursing diploma will be considered for additional credit
  • professional studies, such as midwifery, additional to the nursing diploma will be considered for additional credit. These studies must be equivalent to tertiary level study in terms of length, assessment and content
  • CSU three year Bachelor of Health Science (Nursing): additional credit within the Bachelor of Nursing Science may be approved

Please note that the maximum credit possible is 24 subjects, as a student must complete a minimum of eight subjects to be eligible to graduate with the Bachelor of nursing Science.
