Honours

An Honours program is available for those students who demonstrate high academic performance. Honours consists of an extra year of study and the development of a personal research project and thesis. An Honours degree is usually essential for entry to research higher degrees. JCU's Faculty of Science, Engineering and Information Technology also offers a wide range of postgraduate study opportunities and has an active research program.

Career Opportunities

The program equips students with the management skills for a career in a range of business settings. By selecting appropriate elective courses and majors, students can direct their studies towards individual career pathways. Please browse our discipline areas for more detailed career pathways.

Professional Recognition

Students receive complimentary membership of the Institute of Marine Engineers, Science and Technology (IMarEST). Graduates can also apply to join a variety of professional organisations including the Australian Marine Science Association, the Australian Coral Reef Society and numerous other specialist associations.
