Bachelor of Interactive Media

What is: Interactive Media?

The field of Interactive Media has undergone dramatic expansion since its inception – it is one of the fastest growing industries both in Australia and internationally. We are immersed in Interactive Media in an increasing number of aspects of our lives and yet, the forms of those media continue to reshape and grow in new ways, often unexpected. There is a shortfall of knowledgeable, trained professionals able to understand these patterns. There is a shortage of skilled professionals able to create content for media providers.  AIT’s Bachelor of Interactive Media provides students with the knowledge, skills and abilities to respond to the ongoing changes that this industry will continue to experience. This Programme provides students with the broad foundation to engage as professional practitioners.

Interactive media is used in numerous industries (education, entertainment, medicine, banking, real estate, transport, engineering, advertising, etc.) that now employ the services of interactive media specialists. Positions are available for skills that include: digital animator; architectural simulator; broadcast graphics artist; information designer; data visualiser; special effects artist; corporate presentation development; edutainment developer; animation; publishing; web design and development; advertising and marketing; freelance media production; digital art; games development; interactive media development; film and television production; advertising and marketing; freelance media production; digital art; and an array of new positions that are created with the continuously emerging commercial opportunities.  AIT graduates of the Bachelor of Interactive Media are well positioned to engage in any of those roles.
