About Us
Over the last 4 years no Australian university has reach more success in attaining positive outcome for its graduates. No university has a better understanding of the requirements of International Students. It's why more than half of our 20,000 strong student body travel from all over the world to study at CQU. Our success is dependent on our students' accomplishments. To realise that, no stone has been left unturned.Bachelor of Engineering (Co-op)/Diploma of Professional Practice (Engineering)
This program allows students to learn, and gain hands-on experience in a professional industry environment, being paid while they learn in industry. The Co-operative Education element of industry based learning contributes to graduates receiving the Bachelor of Engineering (Co-op)/Diploma of Professional Practice (Engineering). Students choose civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering as their specialisation after a common first year of engineering studies.
As a Bachelor of Engineering (Co-op)/Diploma of Professional Practice (Engineering) student you will learn and develop expertise leading to qualification as a professional engineer. You will graduate with a Bachelor of Engineering (Co-op), at least twelve months of industrial experience and a Diploma of Professional Practice attesting to your advanced knowledge, skills and experience in professional engineering practice. You will acquire, develop and demonstrate technical engineering knowledge and skills integrating problem-solving, teamwork and communication skills together with development of significant professional practice knowledge and skills.
This CQU engineering work integrated learning program incorporates Project Based Learning, Co-operative Education with Professional Practice, providing learning in context, both in formal and informal learning environments (e.g. in workshops and classes and project studios) and in employment in industry, integrated in your study program. Teamwork and problem solving skills are learned alongside the technical content in an exciting real-world engineering environment.
The program consists of a common first year after which students select their study discipline in civil, electrical or mechanical engineering. The first and second years of the program are offered at CQU's Gladstone, Mackay and Rockhampton campuses. The advanced years of the program are currently only available at Rockhampton.
The first two years of this program are common to the standard engineering degree.
Part of the study of this program entails two nominal six month periods of formal industry placements contributing to 48 weeks of work and professional practice development.
