Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Applied Science (BENGAS)

About the Course
This combined degree will enable students to undertake study in engineering in conjunction with a science program.

 

Engineering specialisations available are Civil, Electrical and Electronics, and Mechanical Engineering, while Applied Science specialisations are offered in cognitive science, ecology and ecosystems, general science, science communication and spatial information technology.

 

Emphasis is placed on learning through project work with students being exposed to actual practice through guest lectures by practicing professionals, site visits and work experience

 

Graduates are equipped to demonstrate and apply an understanding of their chosen areas of engineering and science, including concepts, theories and principles to practice in real situations. Students also become effective problem solvers able to think globally, apply logical and critical thinking, and to apply an understanding of scientific and technological factors and to consider issues from various cultural, economic and other societal perspectives.

 

The Bachelor of Science (Honours) is available for entry to suitable candidates with a Bachelor of Applied Science.

 

Graduates of this combined degree are awarded both the Bachelor of Engineering and the Bachelor of Applied Science.

 

Course Structure
The Engineering part of the combined course includes specialisations in Civil, Electrical and Electronics and Mechanical Engineering.

 

The Applied Science part of the combined course may include specialisations in cognitive science, ecology and ecosystems, general science, science communication, and spatial information technology.

 

A candidate must successfully complete units totalling 400 credit points.

 

Additional Requirements
Of the total 400 credit points:

-Not more than 50 credit points shall be included with a grade of "PC".

 

Professional Recognition

Students who have completed any of the Engineering specialisations can seek membership of Engineers Australia.
