Career Opportunities

Teaching is a portable qualification and teachers are in demand throughout Australia and overseas. Many JCU graduates have taken the opportunity to travel and teach in Europe, Asia and North America. Additional career opportunities exist in government departments (children's services, family services, education, health), community development and welfare agencies, educational tourist attractions, and support services for families.

Practical Experience

An integral part of becoming a teacher at JCU is gaining professional experience. Students teach in schools and other educational settings. Professional experience commences in first year. Students have the opportunity to undertake professional experience in a range of settings and locations. Students must obtain a 'Blue Card' (refer to Additional Entry Requirements) before commencing professional experience.

Professional Recognition

Successful JCU graduates can register with the Queensland College of Teachers.
